The Real Housewives are going through some tax problems with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), according to PEOPLE.com. Linnethia Monique Leakes, who is one of the housewives and former Dancing with the Stars competitor, owes more than $800,000 in back taxes for the year 2014. The IRS made their demand for payment of the liability official on July 22nd by hitting Linnethia with a tax lien in a Georgia court.
Linnethia’s colleague Teresa Giudice was also hit with a tax lien of $219K.
A tax lien is a public legal notice that is claimed by the IRS. As a result, the IRS can take possession of any assets, such as bank accounts, equipments, and any other valuable goods.
The IRS also has the power to revoke passports if they see that the taxpayer is facing tax debt.
