The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) has received reports that callers impersonating the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) employees are requesting payments on iTunes Gift Cards, Green Dot Prepaid Cards, MoneyPak Prepaid Cards, Reloadit Prepaid Debit Cards, and other prepaid credit cards.
Any calls requesting payments or funds from taxpayers on prepaid credit cards are fraudulent activities. The United States Treasury or IRS will never demand payments via Western Union, MoneyGram, bank wire transfers or bank deposits. Disregard these fraudulent impersonators and file a report immediately.
